id love to ask you how or why the sun is the shaped like a flower!!!!! an incredible shot!

The sun is shaped like a flower because Helene used a small aperture and you get diffraction from the diagpragm hence also the slight rainbow effect in the star. Just close the aperture right down to as small as possible in a P&S or below f16 (f22 is good) in a dSLR. It works a treat and this is a lovely mystic image. I’d just get rid of the green reflection in the bottom (or add a few more with a lens flare filter might be even better)

  • Thank you Peter for this technical comment much clearer than would have been mine ! Actually I think the green UFO is what keeps this picture from looking like a completely typical boring sunset… ;-)

A great capture of the searing heat of this wonderful place, I assume you visited Petra ?
    Regards,
    h

  • Thanks h, actually it was a delightfully cool end of the day. Pictures can be so misleading… No Petra this time, I went there during another visit in Jordan some years ago and was told it is very much tourist spoilt now !
