The Tower of Babbit was inspired by the book “Babbitt” by Sinclair Lewis in 1922 which is in part a tale of conformity and success during a period of expansive growth in America of “Modern Business”. This idea was grafted to the myth of the Tower of Babel. It becomes a morality painting of hubris and concludes with the old saw, what comes up must come down.
