Thank you Adrian. And Sande. And thank you Brad. Thank you Ruth. It was interesting for all the elements. There’s more lavender in the lavender fields than showed up but I couldn’t adjust the color without losing the foreground for some reason. Maybe too much yellow in my light bulb.
I’m getting better at taking pictures of my work due entirely to the brilliant photographers here. I really study what you do, and am continually impressed by the effort made and needed for perfect captures of land, sea, animals and people you take.

Thanks bites, for the heartwarming complements, and also for the excellent advice. Dopey of me really, I never seem to get inspired to take photos til the dark of night. I have so much to live up to here, looking at the photographs with my jaw on my knees, filled with admiration for all you all do.

Thank you so much Hank. It means so much. The photographers here, like yourself, have given me the most wonderfully intimate closeups of skies, and it’s helped with my painting.

Love the depth and perspective and feel in this painting. Wonderful bold and beautiful colours.

  • Barbara Sparhawk replied

Thanks, coffeebean. Face to face with poppies is an incredible experience for me. I don’t know if I did the flower justice, but I think I got my love and admiration in there.

Me, too, I love these things, every look is like a kiss. There’s a field near me, a cow pasture, that in spring absolutely FILLS with blue lupin and orange poppies. The roadsides get dangerously crowded with photographers, it never looks the same but always makes you want to pass out. The cows just add to it. I may try and paint it this spring.
Thanks for all your wonderful comments, Sharon.

Masterful! I love the feelings your work evokes every time I look at your paintings or read your writings! A true talent you are and I am so glad to have found you.

  • Barbara Sparhawk replied

Well thank you, so very much. Painting was so fraught with trouble when I started, such ambivilance in youth and all new to the materials; lots of torture. I couldn’t pinpoint the transition, but at some moment painting started being pure pleasure. Not that there aren’t still problems to solve, but I know how to go about it better than before. I believe that’s simply the result of sticking with anything long enough. Thanks again for your kind complements, David.
