Pfeiffer Beach, August Fog
Oil on Canvas – Pfeiffer Beach, Big Sur, California
The impression of Pfeiffer Beach, done back home after a walk through this, eyes and heart blazed by it.
Really spectacular day of a low cloud that made for a kind of lavender air. Very still and warm.

Just spotted this after the last one… of course in reverse order!
What awesome colors… what awesome senitment. How do you keep your sanity in such romantic surroundings… must drive you NUTZ!
Away from the style I recognize as yours… I hope you do more like this for the simple reason that it’s gorgeous.
Now if I stand back and scream my name really loud at this, will it reply “yeah, we know you dude… when you gonna get yer butt out here???” ?
Love this. Total scrumptiousness.

Funny you should say that, it’s really hard to keep one’s sanity, it WILL NOT stop being other-worldly and outer spacey and WHERE AM I. I’m just beginning to connect enough and not swoon so that I can start trying to paint what I see.
Yes indeedy, scream back at it, it knows your name. I really did introduce you to Pfeiffer Beach and Sycamore Canyon Road, and yes dude where are you?
Thanks for all the encouragement and liking this.
xxxxooooo’s to you

I almost didn’t recognise this as Barbara work! The soft pastel blues so unusual for you (that’s what I see on RB anyway)...but then of course the trade-mark energy and emotion…that’s when I saw it was YOU! Such an awesome vibe you have captured of the sea …cool, swirling, and thick beautiful air to top it off. Powerful as always Barbara :)))

It’s been awhile since I used so little pigment on canvas, keen-eye Lou. Many thanks, I felt it that day, that powerful churning of air and sea. Uncharacteristically warm, and very quiet, and perfectly fascinating. I painted it very soon after getting back. I’m very pleased you like this.

Barbara Sparhawk replied
Thank you so much, Kevin. Interesting that you picked up on the power in all this, because it’s there but i wasn’t sure I caught it. So glad for your thoughts
