I WANT IT ALL
I started this painting about six months ago, prior to the move to Big Sur. I want to do a bit more work on it, some changes I’ve thought to make; I don’t have brushes and palette and canvases in there yet for instance; there’s a shadow on my right shoulder that isn’t quite what I was heading for…..
But awhile back and not the first time someone said to me,
“You do whatever you please!”
Which suprised me because it was said with exclamations and I thought pretty much that was common to the human experience. Of course I do. Don’t you?
And somewhere along with all that, I started trying to identify what all I want in life and the answer is on this canvas, for starters. Which interestingly enough I began painting way before I had any idea I’d find a house to live in on Pfeiffer Beach. I’m not fully sure what I’ve got in here, the sun the moon the stars the ocean the wind the beach the mountains plants meadow dawn sunset clouds my favorite persimmon-painted wicker couch a pen to write with and paper for setting out the hieroglyphics with my right hand. I’m stirring the waters with my left hand, sending my thoughts into the either via the breeze, imagining the unimaginable, and buck nekked before the universe because clothes are silly.
Oh one more thing. I fully expect to enjoy my life and for the learning to never end. Turns out I have full control over that. Which is why I look content.
Howdy.

you do look content and so snugly enjoying being cocooned in that shell. Such a great self portrait – just fascinating.

Howdy Bites! I love your poems and writing too, and thanks for all you said. I’m off line at home these days and it makes me crazy, I miss everybody and can’t catch up. Soon I think I’ll be plugged in in the house. Take care, love to hear from you.
