The remains of Abraham Darby’s original blast furnace & forge at Coalbrookdale, Shropshire…… This was where Darby first used coke instead of charcoal to fire the furnace creating a far more intense heat to melt the Iron ore & thus sowed the seeds of the Industrial Revolution … The Remains of the furnace are protected under a giant Pyramid style structure… The piers of railway viaduct in the background are actually built into the walls of the original factory
