searching
for their lost god.

Hmmm busy hands is one thing but hands caught up in a routine of looking for what we think is what we need without just taking out some of the ‘garbage’ and having a less loaded ’ handbag’ to carry…. Ohhh I always seem to favour big handbags as well. Not good for the backbone of life me thinks… XXX
Kristin Reynolds replied
EXACTLY! yes! I just love you, KS! you always get the my poetry’s heart.
that is exactly what this poem is about.
cheers, lady. xo

While this lovely little poem feels lighthearted and humorous – that last line says something entirely different. At least to me it does. We’ve all come up short one way or another – entered a room and forgotten why we came there, etc. We do that in part because we are not “mindful” of the moment we are in – we’re thinking of something else – but in this case, the overstuffed purse, what “god” would one be seeking there? Money is the first thing that comes to mind, but for a woman it might well be some cosmetic item with which to beautify herself. Clearly we are a culture that idolizes beauty particularly in the human form. Anyway – that’s probably tangential and not what you meant at all but it’s the first thing that struck me as I reached the end of it. And I love a poem that makes me do a bit of the work – makes me think! xox
Kristin Reynolds replied
I wrote this about not being mindful, not remembering to remember ourselves while we go through all the mechanics of “existing” in this 3rd dementional folly. our mouth forever chasing the sankes tail.
thank you, lady! xo

Let me guess, a cell phone? This my friend really reflects the truth of our overgrown dependency on THINGS rather than what’s important in life and for life. Masterfully written. Michael

and my toes wiggle all by themselves, i always, always carry my bag on my right shoulder, i don’t know how many doorways i walk through each day but i bet it is 500 more than i think, fingers tapping, face muscles tense. leaking like an old colander! ask my hands to find the lost god? might as well ask the microwave!
Kristin Reynolds replied

We do have tendency to let appearance become an icon, or things, or even the motion of doing without really knowing or remember why. I know I have been guilty. Short work but poignant!
Kristin Reynolds replied
thank you!!!
