One
kiss
can change
everything.
What once lay frozen
suddenly melts, welcoming spring,
when one leans in towards another and their lips touch…

One
glance
can stay
the lonely;
recognition of life:
they do exist, and they matter;
that they are not invisible; they are not just, gone…

One
word
can mean
renewed faith
in all of mankind;
can make one man, devoid of hope,
rethink his lot and count his blessings, breeding new hope…

One
life
makes all
the difference –
shine your loving light.
Just one true smile or kind gesture
makes everything that came before, melt like a warm kiss…

    Before I even read this I must say something about your description because it’s eerily inexplicable. But ALL day yesterday and when I woke during the night (horrendously early and unable to sleep again) the concept of the fibonacci sequence kept running through my head – just the word, sometimes – over and over. How odd that such an unusual word would occur to us both – not that I didn’t already feel that we are often on the same wavelength.

    Now about this incredible poem – even Fibonacci himself would be positively stunned by the beautiful use to which you have put his concept. You are truly remarkably gifted to be able to express in a disciplined form like this, a concept as all encompassing as you have done here. This flows divinely from ONE to end, making your case in this beautiful rhythm. Superb, Kristin.

    love your use of forms/the application of other concepts into forms…while it may seem archaic to some i have always believed that as a matter of craft; it’s important to know/understand the historical forms/movements of whatever creative work one pursues i.e. without knowing ones history one is doomed to repeat it….that knowledge can also give one freedom for example many of the greatest jazz musicians are/were also great classical musicians….and i’m done rambling…lol…

    Oh…I guess… for the pattern that the words are forming in the writing of the poem and “fibonacii” is this same pattern…is that so?
    I love to read it this way.
    You get the concept of the one… ungrained …(is there exist this word in English?)...and at the same time it gives me a sort of insecurity feeling, because the “one” seems a dooming concept like excluding all the others.. unabling us to choose. On the other hand your poem can be extended to all the multi-manifestations of the same Life… so we would never end this fibonacci…sometimes it should be divided…. and go multiplying the essence of itself.
    Rosa (Lovely… intense and interesting to the utmost, Kristin)

  • Kristin Reynolds replied

    Yes indeed!
    thanks so much for your insight, Rosa! xoxo

    So little can be so much, of course timing and aiming of the “act” remains the more human part of this equasion, even a little wink can make my day… ; )
