Think Outside the Box

This poem is about finding the STRENGTH one needs to let go of the rest of the world’s ideals; about finding your circle and riding it all the way to personal freedom. Fuck those squares – if you don’t fit – you don’t fit! and that’s a GOOD thing! this is a poem of will, freedom and the power to e x p a n d.

I am trapped within four white walls…....T
Constraints of constricting concrete…......H

up my vast vacant soul with anything…..K
that comes my way. Fill me! Fill me up…........O
with choice and the freedom to expand…....U
beyond who you were, and who you…......T
never got to be! To leap from this farce…....S
that you call life – to burst forth from this….I
unchangeable cube; bound up in geometry…..D
and the physics of what others say I must…....E
be – NO! I am formless spirit! I adhere to no
set shape; for I am light, and light is void of…....T
corners. I’ve been put in this box to find my…..H
way out! To put hands to these oppressive…..E
walls, pushing with circular force; bidding
myself to break down these crushing brick…..B
barriers that bare my blood and willed rigor…....O
holding me prisoner within its nothingness…....X
infinitely stuck with no hope of expanding
to the infinity that is the outside of my box!
I will escape this all-encompassing prison
that you call limit; break these cubed chains,
and every boundary you have fixed for me

Wow Kristin. That is a strong step toward individual freedom. And I like the way you used the letters on the end of lines to spell out your topic. As I read them over a few times trying to find a connection between the letter at the end and the line at which it was positioned. I realized that by placing those letters, with no apparent connection to the preceeding line, in the poem like you did, that you were in fact breaking out of that box of conformity right here in your poem on the topic. I think that it is very clever. Your words in this write are quite impressive. Take care, Dane

Wow. You are sure a free spirit. Sometimes I wish I were like you, to be able to break out of the four corners of my white walls. Only thing is that if I get to break free, oh boy, is the world going want to hide into safe brick walls. Te, he, he, he Congratulations!!!!!!!!!

  • Kristin Reynolds replied

Oh yeah, you really said it there: I am pure freedom-based. :) that’s what you get for being an Aquarius. :) and girl, you break those walls down and show the world what you’ve got! let them run…you’ll outshine them all. :) thanks, dear, K
