Accepting Stop

A poem about STOP. moment. still. quieting. truth. and the peace and freedom that comes with the art of STOP.

It seems the winds are still at last.
And now, I must accept the still.
Indulge in bells from inward stop.

Greet it as relations who still
kiss with love’s impatient lips,
and not as raucous solicitors.

Embrace the touch of time, less voice.
Exact each cut of cloth, from halt.
Appease the stagnant trees, with wait.

Paint the living landscape, framed.
Beg the earth to stay her hour.
Pack a lunch, and eat what’s next.

Forget the sound of sails on sea –
(the crack of drive on prickled skin)
and delve into the art of pause –

(somewhere, faintly blows the voice
of rustling
leaves on tearing canvass,
escaping a perforated dumpster)
