The Rusting Box
I’ve been experimenting again!
Lets go through the steps.
I rummaged through the campus scrap yard and found a rusting box about 50×50 cm and about 30cm deep. and a few small sheets of different rusting metals.I took these to the print room, shacked the sheets of metal so the rust stayed put (i hope) and dirtied one of them up with some black paint and bitumen, when they dried, i screen printed a drawing onto them in white, (the drawing is here and here’s the Model ) then when they dried, I put them in the rusting box, arranging them to make the image again.
Next I plan to rivet the pieces in place letting them have space under each layer to give the collage more dimension. Then I’ll be giving the box a stand like an old television set. After which, if I have time, and money, I’ll be adding a UV tube lamp into the box, hidden inside, facing the image, so that when the light turns on, it picks up the white and makes the image glow.

Love the light box idea. I wanted to do this with my photos for ages ! Saw a good light box backed print @ State Gallery other day : ] And I’m like ….. !? Thats what i want to do ! Real BIG ! Ummmm …. any howz, a good place to find old fluro tube lights cheap is Second hand Shop furnishing places ? ewww ! Be good if you get it to happen : ]

Like, shop fixtures. Yeah !? Second hand shop fixtures. Cause you get all those old fish and chip fluros that lit up those horrible burnt out faded pictures of fish and chips! yeah !? ; ] And the light box to go with it too !! : ]

and flowers! its how butterflies see the flowers and go get lunch. we used to draw flowers in uv ink then watch/photograph them land on it
