The Admirable Bolete (Boletus mirabilis)
This is a most common mushroom in the Oregon Coast Range Mountains, and this year is no exception. Here we see the Admirable growing from an old fallen tree. We often gather this mushroom for table use, but one must be quick to get them dried or cooked, they do not have a long shelf life.
It has red textured velvet like cap and a stem contrasting with its yellow pores. They often grow in association with Western Hemlock or other conifers.
The location is near the small town of Horton, Oregon, USA.
