The Ferryman of the dead, conveying souls across the river Styx – for a fee.
I’ve always been fascinated by Greek myths, and returning to them as an adult, it’s particularly interesting to me to think that the myths have their roots firmly in a bronze age culture, and that the practice of religion was far more pagan and shamanistic than the way it’s usually shown in films. These were savage, bloody times and the world was full of myth and mystery ruled by cruel and fickle gods.
