Well here is an old roadside poster board that has seen better days. A lot to see here but the poignant part is the fact there is a torn up poster about mortgages (you can make out Typical APR) and if your’s is like mine it now looks like th eposter – a mess thanks to the banks who get to be bailed out but joe bloggs has to suffer instead. There is also a spooky face looking out at you that I didn’t see when I took the shot. There must be so many layers to this shot – what can you see?

Just saw the face after reading your comments on this one. So much detail in here, it’s the Where’s Wally of typography! I can see something resembling a horse head below the Y and P. Nice one mate!

  • Hi Parmi yes there is a lot going on in this shot – I see what you mean about the horse – Lloyds Bank probably :o)

Ooh, I like the busy-ness of this. I see the face peeking out from behind all that shredded paper. So many layers and different fonts. Looks great framed!

  • Thanks Dot – I like the busy ness of it too although normally like something simpler. I drive past this most days and there are 4 in a line all a bit like this not used anymore.

This is what I see: Posters look to the future. They are put up in anticipation of something. Here, all of those hopes are in the past, and we don’t know if they were fulfilled or disappointed. Poignant is so very right in that sense.

  • Thanks Tenzil I see that too especially the mortages mess that the UK got into :o) thanks for the fav too.

Lovely! I don’t see or recognize anything related to mortgages, but the face jumped out at me, and the word ‘typical’. I love walls with their ‘history’ written in their layers, and this shot reminds me of many walls I shot in India. :) (As I post more, you’ll come to recognize that.)

  • Thanks Marjolein great to hear from you my friend. No worries the advertisements would be for the UK so maybe you wouldn’t see what I see but that’s what I like about the shot there is so much too see yet there isn’t anything there :o) the word typical is part of the mortgage advert – all that dark blue text.

    Splendid capture, well spotted

  • Thanks Richard – the spot was easy it was taking it safely was the issue. It’s on a roadside I drive past most days but was quite on Sunday so finally took my opportunity :o)
