“He loves me, he loves me not”

Wit madeliefieblare
vertel van mooiste liefhêjare
van kom en gaan
van ou onthou
maar mééste nog
van jou

jongmeisiedrome
het een vir een
soos madeliefieblare
weggewaai
in wind en reën
maar jy’t gebly,
by my

en in ons twee se tuin
daar teen die muur
groei welig bosse wit
wat elke mooiste môre
weer nuwe blydskap
in my hart kom sit

“He loves me, he loves me not” by

Maree asked me to write a verse to go with her lovely painting. I usually don’t have to think very long when triggered like this! Unfortunately I can only write in my home language, Afrikaans.
(Google translate might help…)

My liefde vir taal en veral Afrikaans het ek by my oorlede ma geërf.

Can’t understand a word of this but I am very relieved. I was just about to write and ask you if Elizabeth was ok. I haven’t seen her around for a little while, wrote her a bubblemail to ask if she was ok and received no reply. I was reviewing my delightful day and thought about her again so I went to look on her site and found this. Wonderful. Thank you for spending so much of the day with me I have thoroughly enjoyed your company. Hugs. Alma xx

  • You are such a darling Alma and I really enjoy and appreciate your (internet) friendship, wish you were near! xx

Even over the ether there is some sort of chemistry which speaks out through the art of another person and tells you instinctively you are on their wavelength. At least that is what I find. As we all get to know one another better through the written words and comments the friendship deepens and becomes important. You are one such to me in my red ether bubble!! Love Alma x

  • Warmhearted words from a friend. Very precious, thank you Alma. xxx
