Kappertjies by Elizabeth Kendall

Kappertjies by

I have loved nasturtiums since I was a child (although I knew them by their Afrikaans name of kappertjies then). They were easy to grow and produced loads of flowers over a long period. I remember always being on the lookout for interesting colours: the ones with petals that shaded from red in the centre to yellow at the edges were my favourite.
I still have them in my garden and enjoy their beautiful colours when they bloom in the beginning of our South African winter. (May, June)

This painting is a commission for someone who saw a similar framed painting I had at the flee market last Saturday in our town. Original sold! ;-)

I adore nasturtiums also……….but sadly the snails eat mine no matter what I do so I end up staring in envy at those who can grow them…………..this is really lovely…………I might have to buy a painting of Nasturtiums……….lol!!

  • Thanks so much Fara, a painting could be a consolation! Lol! Salt help for snails, I think.
Thanks so much for the fav, I really appreciate your wonderful comment!
