There’s no beating the freedom of driving oneself around Kruger. However, to deepen one’s experience of the bush, the visitor should take advantage of the guided game drives offered by most of the camps in Kruger Park.(South Africa) The best option is to go for the early morning or evening drives.
Firstly, there is a chance to experience the Kruger bush in a way that is completely different to what happens during daylight hours, and secondly one has a guide on hand to explain what is happening and to answer any questions.
Most of the predators hunt during twilight or night-time, and one will also see many of the smaller carnivores – such as Civet or Genet – that one would not normally see by day.
The sound of the bush is different at night which is both a time of danger and respite.
Early morning drives leave at around 04h30 in summer and 05h30 in winter.
