This is a photo of a wild Black Bear. It was taken in Cades Cove which is located inside The Great Smoky Mountains National Park, on the Tennessee side of the park. This bear was with 2 smaller bears. They were feeding along in very thick vegetation when this bear climbed about 4 feet up the side of this tree so he could see the gathering crowd.

Canon EOS-40D with a Canon EF 300mm f/4L IS lens on a Bogen tripod.

Av Mode, 1/500 second at f/4 and ISO 400

What a fantastic shot, Joe!!! That is something Mike has said he would love to see…. a bear in the wild… The way we are encroaching on their habitat, we will probably be seeing them in our backyard soon! hahaha…. i hope not! hope you have a wonderful week!!!
