Monday 10 October 2011 Taken some were in Perth WA. Macrozamia riedlei Zamia Palm Captured on Nikon D300 = Nikon 105mm Macro HDR single RAW file, Hand-held, Processed in Photomatix. Tweaked in Aperture Capture NX 2 This plant is actually a Cycad not a Palm and it normally “flowers” from September until November. This was the only one with cones amongst the many plants which I found in this reserve. Early explorers who tried eaten them were poisoned. M. riedlei can be up to 3 m tall and grows from around Perth southwards into the south west corner of Western Australia. Please View Large…For A Better Image

I like Zamias, have you tried a real close shot of the patterns – comes up well. You can add this to Wilflowers of the World group (I must find mine too)
