Hey Mark follow your heart, if HDR’s your bag then stick with it. Back to back both versions work well but HDR for me doesn’t work all the time. When it works it really rocks but some images just don’t look real somehow. They look more cartoon or computer generated in an annimated sense or digital graphic thingy like those new films.
Of the two which version works best for me, its got to be the non HDR. But then that’s just my personal opinion which as I have said many times is not definitive. Bottom line for me is simple, they are both art be that photographic art or HDR photographic art but its definitely art!!
If we all liked the same thing then art would be boring.

You waited for a beautiful time of day for this shot. It just so beautiful. The low light allowed you to leave the shutter open for a bit achieving that misty look to the falls. I find that doing that also allows the depth of the colors to fill.

Looking at this, you certainly are in control of HDR and you don’t let HDR run away with you like so many do and end up hurting my eyes trying to look at them? Orton effect is another brilliant method to use if you want a brake from HDR or even use it with HDR? I am stuck with orton at the moment.
