Well I just LOVE Photography…....!
At the age of 15 (now 36) I bought myself a Pentax P30n SLR film camera and never looked back. I still own this camera as I could not part with it after all the great photo’s it helped me take.
Since then, I’ve had about 10 film cameras and sold my last film camera a Nikon F5 and purchased my first Digital SLR a Nikon D1 in 2002.
I was not into the whole ‘digital camera’ boom when they first hit. I must of owned about 8 digital cameras in a year after I bought my first Casio camera (not even 1 megapixel) I wasn’t happy with the quality and thought these would never replace a good film camera (and to some degree never will) But after I spoke to someone at work who was into photography, he was telling me about how “Digital SLR” is the way to go (he was also a mad Nikon fan)
He brought in his brand new Nikon D1 (and at $10K WOW) and I was amazed at how good it was, but no way was I going to spend $10K on a camera. So after many more what I call “Disposal” digital cameras I bought a second hand Nikon D1 (now retired)
I didn’t know all about the CCD sensor size and how much bigger the one was in the D1. When I was out shooting Sydney Harbour I thought about blowing up a print to hang on my wall, being a 2.75 Megapixel camera I thought I would not even get an 8×10 print. So after blowing it up to 20×30 inch WOW I was amazed how good it looked. So much detail and the colours were true to life.
I had a 8×10 inch print taken off a 3 megapixel “Disposal” camera that didn’t look nowhere near the DSLR (and so it shouldn’t) So I knew it was all about the size of the CCD (So Size DOES matter)
Now after many years and a few DSLR’s later, I thought I’d have enough images to now share with the rest of the world.
I have a real passion for photography, I feel like nothing else matters when I am out shooting. All that matters are the images I capture.
So on that note, I hope you enjoy my photo’s as much as I have taking them.
Now with a few DLSR’s in my bag, I’m off to take more images for everyone to enjoy.
I have on order a Nikon D3 and I can’t wait for this camera :-)
Best Regards,
Steve Grunberger
