Walking home at night, I spotted this man carrying his sleeping son down an alleyway, gently singing to him. I only had about half a second to snap the photo so I’m fairly happy with the composition.

that’s actually pretty well done. love the lights and the colours really add to the mood of the moment. well done.

  • Thanks, glad you like it. I’ve walked past this alleyway a thousand times since and it has never looked like that again – talk about lucky!

Wonderful picture, know Footscray well, went to school there many years ago and visit Footscray Eye Clinic occasionally. Would that have been the small alleyway from the car park to Barkley street? Shirley.

  • YES that’s the one! This was taken from the Barkly St side. Footscray Eye Clinic is across the road from where I live, I walk past it everyday. You obviously don’t need to be visiting the eye clinic if you got all that from just this shot ;)

    Such a touching shot

  • Thanks! It was quite a sweet moment, he was looking down at his son and singing beautifully to him (it sounded like an African song). Very very sweet.

It has changed so much over the years, I don’t go to the clinic now I go to one in Werribee, I have very slow growing cataracts but was told about them about 12 years ago.The clinic got too busy and the wait was too long. It is a lovely picture that you captured, right spot right time, very sensitive… Shirley

  • Where abouts in Werribee are you? I’ve got a friend in Werribee South near the train station there. My girlfriend and I spent a day at Werribee Park and absolutely loved it, particularly the mansion and sculpture walk.
