Coooool!! Great shot…especially with such distance! (Boeing 747-400, Rolls Royce RB211 engines x4. The airline livery appears to be that of Qantas, or Virgin Atlantic.)

Thanks for the info JM it looked like a qantas jet but l did’nt think that the red around the tail was wavy,so it maybe a virgin plane, the jet stream on this day was purely amazing because it was so clear, but of course near impossible to get all that in,Lol!

This is great, love the angle I can never seem to get these shots but being in Cornwall there aren’t any major airports so when we see them they’re already at 40,000ft and travelling at 500mph, I think it’s Qantas : )

  • Trudi ~

Trudi ~ in reply to Wayne Holman’s comment, 4 months ago

Yep l think it’s qantas too Wayne.lt left the most amazing jet stream on such a clear day,but if l took that l l would’nt have been able to see the plane,so got this one instead, thanks for your comment l appreciate it

there’s a distortion here which could have made it a throw-in-the-bin job but instead has really added to the image. It has helped created that feeling of unattainable escape, a sort of dreamlike quality that tempts and teases but which we know we cannot attain….. Brilliantly shot.

  • Peter Redmond

That is a great image! Can’t believe that it’s been here a month and I have just seen it! That is a Qantas 747. What looks like smoke from the jet engines is actually the hot air thrust from the jets in the very cold air of the upper atmosphere. They are called “contrails”

Thanks so much for that information l have been after a plane shot like this for sometime with a clear blue background,l would have liked it a little clearer, but this was about as good as a point and shoot will take !! so l am glad you like it l appreciate your thoughtful comment
