Beautiful work, I hope that only means you are moving, not that you are not going to paint anymore!
Thank you for the kind words. No, I don’t believe I’ll ever quit painting so long as I have one eye and one hand that are functional. The story is that I’m selling my place in Sarasota and moving on, possibly to San Francisco, possibly to a more exotic location. The Andaman Islands are looking good to me right now. Meanwhile I’m with a friend in Denver, of all places, waiting for the sale of my Florida property to close.
Wow what a glorious painting it is too. Erstwhile home? Is everything ok?
Thank you for the compliment, and thanks also for your solicitous questions. Everything is as OK as can be expected these days I suppose. I’ve lost most of my capital (it was almost all in USA real estate) and my health is better than that of most 58-year-old men, especially those who have lived as I have. I’m happy and excited about the move; had spent way too much time in that little Florida town, for one reason and another.
The painting is a 43 × 49 inch (95 × 108 cm) acrylic-on-canvas with gold leaf piece that took me literally years to complete because people that I Loved kept getting sick and dying and I had to spend a lot of time and money taking care of them and so on. O yes, and I got thrown in jail for a while for something I didn’t do. So it goes.
Anyhow it’s finished now and I’m glad that you like it.
Fabulous! Wonderful effect with the layers color. I love it!
Thank you, Karen. Please have a look and consider joining my Remodernist Painters’ Group (RPG). I really like your work, and I think you’ll feel at home with us.
Stunning Carson. wonderful art. amazing how good you make art look …all the best for you future, it can only get better.. nice sometimes to re invent your self …
Thanks, Virginia. Your kind words and good wishes are much appreciated.
wow, carson, this is stunning, so much beautiful texture and the colours are rich and deep and mellow and delicious. As with all your ocean views, its endless and empty and thats just how i like it…. Dont ever stop painting them. Hope your move goes well, and that you can live happily without the ocean!
Thank you, Linda. I’m so glad that you continue to find something of value in my Ocean Series. As for the Ocean, I do miss her terribly but this phase is only a transition. As far as happiness goes, well, I’ve never had much talent for that, but we Buddhists are big on serenity. That’s what I aim for. If happiness should happen to come around once in a while, so much the better!
how many have you painted in this ocean series carson?
I’m not sure exactly but upwards of 380. I have 17 of them in crates here in my temporary studio in Denver and there are 2 with an agent in London; the rest have all been either sold, damaged beyond repair in shipment, or, in the case of two of them, stolen. Actually there was another big one, Au Dela, that was sold and then stolen.
The sold ones are all over the world as well as the USA; Sweden, Germany, Spain, France, the West Indes, Costa Rica, India, and some other countries that I’m probably forgetting. None in Australia yet, which is a situation that I’d like to see change : )
Carson, Another of your beautiful serene canvases. I’m currently on the Island of Samui in the Gulf of Thailand and today my wife and I have spent time with a Thai hotel owner talking about the possibility of his creating a reasonably priced ‘long term stay’ facility for foreign retirees here. We’re also American’s who’ve lost much capital in the down turn and property. AH… life! I’ll try and keep track with where you end up… and hope to see more beautiful beach/sea paintings!
Thank you, James, and thanks also for re-contributing Buddha Surfing to the RPG. As a Buddhist and a surfer, I really have a special affinity for that one. Wish I were there on Samui with you. Finding myself in Denver when I wake up in the morning is a very strange experience. AH… life! indeed. This, too, shall pass.
