I would walk by this site daily on one of my 4 to 6 mile walking ‘tours’ in the morning of this particular autumn and noticed something I hadn’t seen before. This one oak tree was slowly turning this brilliant red (it has not happened since!). I decided this was an afternoon shot and set up shop at the selected position and waited for the sun to arrive at the position I was waiting for and was blessed with this result.I marveled at the tree going out in a blaze of glory while the building passively collapsed into its’ demise.
The camera was the Mamiya RZ67 II w/110mm normal lens set for f22 @ 1/8th sec with a 2A haze filter + polarizer filter combination. The film was Kodak’s E100VS rated at ISO-100. The advantage the polarizer provided here was removing the blue/graying of the shadows caused by the UV contamination of the atmosphere thereby adding ‘depth’ to the scene.
