Walking through the tree lined mall of Central Park in NYC I spotted this boy and his dad about 40 meters ahead of me. I quickly knelt down and pre-focused on a spot in front of me. I hastily adjusted the settings on the camera with the result the lens was wide open giving me a narrow depth of field. I kept both eyes open to focus and compose simultaneously. Try it sometime, it’s a fun exercise. Interestingly, neither the boy or the dad paid the slightest attention to me.
The camera was the Hasselblad 500C w/150mm Sonnar lens and a No.8 Yellow filter attached. The settings were f4 @ 1/125th of a sec using Kodak’s Tri-x film rated @ ISO-400 and developed in Kodak’s D76 (1:1).
