Glade Creek Grist Mill Babcock SP WVA
This grist mill was one of my objectives on a recent shoot to WV. I was lucky enough to have an overcast sky to help keep the contrast gradient within a tolerable stretch. All digital images are shot in ‘standard’ color and then converted as needed, in this case to B&W. The final result also received a ‘light’ application of selenium ‘toning’. Also, I chose morning light to take advantage of its’ softer impression.
The camera was the Canon 5D full frame in RAW mode (always) with the 24-84 zoom lens set to 37mm and a UV-2 filter attached. The camera settings were f8 @ 1/50th sec. with an ISO rating of 200. The color space was RGB and the White balance was ‘Auto’ with manual focusing (I didn’t want the focusing system to be ‘mislead’ by the foreground info.
