Hajra S. Meeks is a lecturer at the University of California in Merced where she teaches Islamic history. Her Bachelor of Science in Physics with a Minor in History was completed at the University of San Francisco (USF) in 2004, and her Masters of Science in History of International Relations at the London School of Economics and Political Science (LSE) in 2006. Her Masters thesis on American views of Muhammad Ali Jinnah (the founder of the Islamic Republic of Pakistan) was awarded Distinction, the highest ranking possible in the British educational system.
Hajra has focused a great deal of her graduate studies on Islamic History, Arabic, and Islamic art and calligraphy. Her attachment to art began when she was very young, and throughout her pursuit of diverse fields of study, she has continued to produce artwork in watercolor, ink, acrylic, pastel, and oil pastel.
