Hello, my name is Hayley Joyce and I’m from Tasmania, Australia. I would not call myself a professional photographer, but I dabble. I have a bachelors degree in Contemporary Arts from the University of Tasmania majoring in photography, I don’t know if this qualification will help me get work in the industry, I only really did it because I love photography and ‘the arts’. :)
I am currently undertaking a course in Community Services (like counselling, etc.) which hopefully will end up in a diploma. I am very passionate about helping others and I will one day use my photography ‘skills’ to perhaps help others while I am in this industry.
I prefer using analogue – black and white film, to me this feels hand-made and a therapeutic process. Maybe because you’re stuck in a darkened room for hours on end with dimmed red lights. It’s also that romantic vision of seeing your image appear within moments in a tub of developer. However until I get myself my own darkroom, many of my images are going digital.
Majority of my work over the years has been nudes, however I can not upload many of these images out of courtesy for the models.
Apart from photography I enjoy sculpture, particularly sewing and bronze casting. I would love to work with bronze more but I do not have the facilities and means to do so.
I enjoy taking photos of my travels, the places I live, for friends, for bands and themes or things that interest me.
I love to travel and hope to do more soon. Next stop is New Zealand!
I travelled Asia for 6 months during 2010 and I have to say this was one of the best experiences of my life. I want to travel again as soon as I have the means to do so and I plan on taking more memorable photographs.
I tend to be rather lazy these days when it comes to taking photos but I will upload what I can, when I can on Redbubble.
