Sweet Annabelle by Paul Rees-Jones

A little girl, not exactly alive,
Wandering around in her own way.
A little girl, not exactly warm,
Looking for some ghoulish play.

She calls to her friends…
“Let’s play Hide and Bleak!”
Her friends say no,
Cause she never seeks.

She calls to her friends…
“Let’s play sticks and stones!”
her friends say no
Cause she loves breaking bones.

She calls to her friends…
“Let’s play tie you up tag!”
Her friends say no,
One always leaves in a body bag.

She sighs and wails,
As only she can.
And ponders her plight,
And ponders a plan.

She knows she can be
A bit of a sweet pain
But her friends should love her
All the same.

So if they don’t
Come out to play.
She go get them
And they’ll rule the day.
