"It's a Jungle out there!" has now over 1500 cartoons! by Hagen

A while back, I did a journal entry on reaching 1000 cartoons and used it to give a short desciption of the process that got me starting in cartooning…

Well, as you may or may not know, I’ve been absent from Redbubble for a while. There were two reasons for it.

First and foremost, I’ve changed my day job. After 16 years as a research scientist for a goverment institution in Australia, I was offered a position for a big company. Pay was not the motivation, but the better work conditions and the fact that they were keen on the type of research I do. I moved to this new company with two friends/colleagues, so it was basically a very nice transition. The only issue was that the firewall at work blocks me from accessing hotmail and redbubble…

Second, my wife and I decided to do what is called in Australia a “Knock-down rebuild”. Basically, as the land is very expensive in Sydney, if you have an old house on a nice block of land, there are companies set up to come and demolish your old house and build you a brand new one! This process took 8 months for us and we have now moved into our brand new home, but same address as before.

Finally, we’re connected to broadband internet at home and I can now check my emails and redbubble more frequently…

Anyway, all this to say that I’ve drawn cartoon No 1500 a few weeks ago (I actually finished drawing No 1549 a few minutes ago). Cartooning is an evening exercise for me as I can only do it when my children are in bed asleep…

Anyway, I’m back and I update my website at http://www.hagencartoons.com three times a week, so if you don’t see enough of my cartoons here, go to my website.

A huge thank you to all of you who so nicely comment on my cartoons! It is very important to me to get some feedback as it is the way I gauge if the humour works and if people smile…
