I was given a lot of criticism from my camera club about this image.
I was told it was 2 photos, the pup and the shearers and I shouldn’t mix the two as it made the image too busy.
What do you all think???
I like the story it tells…
I am putting it in the Dubbo Show so I will let you know how it goes…

Hello, I’m a country girl born and bred in Dubbo, NSW Australia. I am a avid photographer of all things Australian. I love the “Aussie Bush” and taking photos of wildlife, nature and farm animals.
Most of my photos are Farm Life in Country NSW.
I am now doing a lot of Pet Photography as well as I have a great affinity with all animals.

I think it works. The pup on its own would be a shot of a puppy. As it is it’s a puppy with a story.

I like it because it puts the dog in its unique real life setting. He looks proud and alert, waiting for his next job, and it shows what goes with the shearing while he is waiting. I disagree with your camera club on this one!!! I think it’s a great image!

Being in a camera club I can relate to them judging thus one as being busy but I strongly disagree with their comment ,,, without the background the puppy would just be a cute puppy … With the background the puppy then goes on to tell his own story of who he is or will be in the future … This is a brilliant example of rural photo journalism … Good luck at the show Helen, I believe this one has winner stamped all over it.

Agree with Bev’s comments. Yes it may be considered busy or two photos, but we need to think about what the author is saying. The meaning behind the photo. Often in judging this gets missed. See how it goes.

I think the camera club are being too picky Helen. I love this shot. It got the pup connected to his future here! Keep it in the comp. xxxxx

I think it’s great Helen – shows the men hard at it and the dog is part of their team ! Is it a Blue Heeler ’ pup ? If so, another Aussie icon !
