Artist's Description

Photograph taken at the Great Wall of China the Start of our Great Wall Journey. Our excursion began at the pier in Tianjin where we boarded the motorcoach for the approximately three-hour drive to the Great Wall of China at Huangyaguan. Once here we began our journey climbing the many steps & inclines up the wall. The morning fog stayed on the mountain for several hours.

Originally built in the Northern Qi Dynasty (550 – 557), the Huangyaguan Great Wall has a history of over 1400 years. It was reinforced to a large extent with brick walls in the Ming Dynasty (1368 – 1644). In 1985, reparation work was performed for the second time, including the walls, more than 20 watch towers and a water pass.
