Artist's Description

In the early morning of summer, before the Arizona sun gets high in the air and the heat becomes oppressive, the Trichocereus cactus flower starts to awaken and unfurl. It will then open into a magnificent bloom. This flower is usually 3- 5 inches or more across when fully open and lasts only for half a day. When the sun is high in the sky and the mid-day heat is hovering around 90 or more the bloom fades.

Photo of the Trichocereus Cactus flower. The flower color of the Trichocereus can range from white, yellow, pink or red. The flowers range in size from 3 to 5 inches in diameter and in depth. These beauties bloom explosively and are often gone by noon. Photograph was taken in Arizona.
