San Francisco De Asis Mission Church by

San Francisco de Asis Church.
Also known as “Ranchos Church,” this sanctuary was built in the late 1700s and was made famous by Georgia O’Keeffe and Ansel Adams, among many other artists who became fascinated by its looming buttresses. The San Francisco de Asis Church is still an integral part of its community. Surrounding the church are shops, galleries, trading posts, and restaurants – all housed in old adobe buildings as well.

A beautiful structure, well maintained by the community, and nicely captured.

  • Thank you very much for your wonderful comments. When we were there they were in the process of re-stuccoing the church so I went back later in the day after the work was done. Wonderful area. Thanks again.

Such an amazing building, I love its voluptuous proportions. Nice work photographing this and avoiding the tourists and surrounding buildings, the view to the sky is a terrific backdrop.

  • Thanks Linda for your wonderful comments. I went back to capture this church in early evening when all the tourists were gone. Wonderful time to go. Even the sky cooperated with these wonderful clouds and those birds.
