Time's Bandit

What if unused and unnoticed bits of time could be collected and put to use, I have considered this in my “spare” time.

Time's Bandit belongs to the following groups:

! Creative Writing & Poetry !, All Things Poetic, Artistic, Philosophical, Freedom In Words & Art, Humour Captured and Writing: Persuing Happiness

Despite living seemingly comfortable,
safely on the black side of times ledger,
I started embezzling moments.

Rest assured this is nothing
as frivolous as a celebrity shoplifter
or as tragically ironic
as a billionaire kleptomaniac.

No, to the contrary
this is fraud born of necessity –
there is just never enough time

I have been cautious,
carefully calculating the craftiest schemes
for rounding odd millisecond downward,
confident that space and time;
so busy with eternity, eons and epochs
would never miss any pilferage to the right
of the chronological decimal point.

Even if Chronos noticed,
how would any suspicion be corroborated?
Who records sustained events
to the tenth of a second?
Perhaps a few Olympic events would be altered,
but I’m certainly smart enough to cease
the fraud every four years for a few weeks
to prevent a documented record

I may, by chance have overlooked some
regularly documented calculation
of sub second accounting,
But I trust I can discount NAS car stats
as not credible and micro-processor speeds
as too geeky to be understood by a jury.

But even if a record of the missing time
is introduced, I would plead necessity.
Spanning dimensions requires
either suspending the linear flow of time
in one dimension, or adding time to both,
so as to not be missed in one or the other.
My presence is compelled in both,
thus the theft and balanced spending.

I suppose I could have implemented the same
scheme and banked the moments to extend my time
in my native dimension, but I am drawn to each world—
chronologically layered cakes,
I propose to both have and eat.

So far so good, no grains of sand has been detected
either added or subtracted from any official hour glasses
and the candle continues to burn at both ends
without foreseeable indication of it meeting in the middle.

The theory remains sound
little bits of a lot of things
can build into a lot of something.
if only I can resist the urge to steal
too much too fast.

“do not squander time, for that is the stuff life is made of”
This is completely awesome truth. Compelling and powerful stuff my friend :) xoxo

  • GuyAmazed replied

Well, don’t squander it, unless you can really steal it : )
