On the island of Olkhon, situated in Lake Baikal, can be found many such decorates posts. They were originally places for the ancient Buryat peoples of the island to tether their horses but are now used as places of votive offering to ensure a safe onward journey. People leave money, cigarettes, and almost anything they have, as an offering. This set of of four posts is located just outside of Khuzhir, the main town of Olkhon.
