I dont mean to offend.. but what is the focus, the man sitting or the tree or just the intire image as a whole? I’m kind of nieve to art so please forgive me if I come off as judgemental..I just thought maybe with out the tree. it would be less distracting. Don :)
No offence Don, I guess the sitting man is the first focal point but then the secondary interests are in the characters at the rail the leading around to the figures on the right. It makes a circular design. The tree does cut the painting to a degree but I think the shadows and light give it a reason. Thanks Don.
ahh ok I see your point, and I agree the shadows in the center make a nice walk way thru the picture. I guess I was thrown off by the people facing the outside edges that made the tree look central. Don :) Please feel free to delete my comments, I dont want the others to think im precotious. lol
I love it! Interesting comment on focal point – far harder to make a painting work with no obvious focal point, and you balanced it beautifully!
You’re right Esther, it’s fragmented and sort of divided by that tree so there are really several pictures in one. Thanks for your thoughts.
Beautiful piece! Please consider our Challenge, click here, please
Thanks Elisabeta. I’ll do that. Cheers.
Stunning work. My eyes went straigt to the sitting man and then the shadows, then around through the other people. I did not even notice the trees, even though I love the shadows it created, unil it was pointed out. Interesting what we all focus on.Regards kerry
Thanks scallyart. It’s a complicated composition and it has some interesting spaces.
