This piece was a bit of an experiment for me, in which I toyed a bit more with colour and application processes. There’s just so much to learn when it comes to painting! I was after a bit of a classical subject for this, and as the first place this painting will be exhibited in is a bar/cafe/club type space, the Greek god of wine seemed like an apt choice! That, plus a figure indicative of the sense of relaxation brought by an enjoyable glass of red. I have to admit though, I think I may have turned the Dionysus mask into something more akin to Celtic Greenman, as often seen in a number of British and other European cathedrals and other old buildings….
