Waiting At Main and White by Gryphonn

Currently unavailable for purchase

This shot is purely for my curiosity. I see a lot of old photos of this city when researching local history. As a result, I’ve decided to capture some of the more ‘normal’ stuff around town. My feeling is that even in as little as 20 years, this junction will be unrecognizable. I’d like to help preserve some of the history of this place.

Details
Taken at the T-junction of Main and White Streets
, Rockhampton, Queensland, Australia.
White streets extends off ‘Knight’ Street and is commonly thought of as Knight Street. The intersection of the two streets, as well as the rail line, commonly causes extreme congestion here. It took nearly five minutes to get onto Main st after the boom gates opened.

This is so typical of so many Ozzie road/rail crossings, it could be anywhere. I know the intersection, and yes it is a bottleneck. Great pic.

  • Thanks lynmel. Yeah, I can see big changes here within 10 years. Much like Farm and Alexandra. I can see lights at both T-junctions within 5 years. Some parts of Rocky need it.

  • How cool! Maybe we have some psychic ‘bond’ somewhere…which explains the last name thing my friend.
