I run a concreting business to pay the bills but have been working with abstact art as well as sculpture for about ten years. With the abstract stuff I start by drawing or “doodling” forms and at some point scan the image into Photoshop. I generally have no pre-conceived idea what the finished image will look like as I work on pieces. It is more like a meditation in the early stages. It is sometimes a process of subtracting and adding. I use the computer to manipuate images, particularly repeating and moving, as well as colouring the pieces. I don’t do any drawing as such in Photoshop. Some works will grow into a large series, others are a one-off. I can group my work into three areas: totally abstract, abstract figures, and absract pieces derived from collaged images.
I have had several solo and group shows in South Gippsland.
