Artist's Description

Union Pacific had 25 huge “Big Boy” Locomotives built to operate in eastern Utah and western Wyoming. The 4000 class (4-8-8-4 wheel arrangement) steam locomotives were built between 1941 and 1944 by Alco (American Locomotive Company). This loco – the 4004 is currently in a park in Cheyenne, Wyoming. The locomotive was 26 metres long (over 40 with tender)
