Synaesthesia

Synaesthesia

Synaesthesia: A condition in which one type of stimulation evokes the sensation of another, as when the hearing of a sound produces the visualisation of a colour.

In 2008 the Massed Bands of HM Royal Marines headlined the Edinburgh Military Tattoo. Little did they know what strange and disturbing events would occur when they strayed into my camera range. One year on, having endured cruel and unusual distortions, inversions and enhancements in the twin Hells of Photoshop and Paint Shop Pro, they emerged transformed forever into this psychedelic melange of colour and sound. And the Trickster looked upon hisdisciple’s handiwork, and he found it …...............groovy!

Especially for James, here is the original image which might be helpful in detecting those Marines!

Very beautiful, love the Colors, and black back ground of course works.

Hello Ana. Thank you very much for your kind comments. I’m always surprised by the images I create, but even more surprised when someone else finds them worthy of comment. You have made my day!

Yup! This qualifies as art in my book. I’ve been straining to see the massed bands you say you started with… see the drum… But still a lively, colorful and intriguing image.
Once again, I think a Tee is in order. you could market it to band members.

  • Christopher Po... replied

Well, it is only a small section of the band! You might detect some white outlines akin to the shape of pith helmets (there is one directly below the drum, to give you an idea) which might help. Glad you think it’s art, becasue I was thinking much the same – I’m very proud of this because it is something new for me, and I got exactly the effect I was aiming for (when I realised what I was aiming for, that is). Thanks for your comment – as always you are a great encouragement to me.

thanks for adding the image… but it doesn’t really add or detract from your art. I thought when looking at the work just now of ‘how I could “hear” the music and noise of the marching band.’ Good work!

As a newby to the art world, this piece gives me courage that art is still alive. Thank you.

Thank you so much! I consider your comment to be the highest praise, and I am very grateful indeed. I’m normally very wary of identifying my images as art, but am always pleased when someone else is able to identify the art in them.
