Clean up Redbubble by Graham Southall

Currently unavailable for purchase

As you may all be aware of the growing protest here on Redbubble regarding offensive art work being posted. This is my small contribution to the protest as I am deeply offended by this so called artwork by a certain so called artist which I cannot name due to Redbubble guidelines. Many very talented artists have already left Redbubble and I have been told that many groups are closing. Do hope Redbubble come to there senses and start listening to us the members.
So let’s clean up Redbubble and say “NO” to offensive art.

Peace and Love to you all.

as much as i am on side about particular tshirts being out of place & needing removal. it is a big thing to ask redbubble to remove offensive art work/clothing. who determines if something is offensive. the way you have generalized is certainly very much part of what pilgrim ree speech was saying. i am not agreeing, i am merely pointing out that your notion is not realistic or fair. but in relation to the particular works that have been mentioned previously, yes, some of those should be removed & i know that 2 very offensive tees have gone.

  • Hello Vamp! Freedom of speech and expression works both ways I guess but do we really want such works here on Red that is clearly offending the mass majority and why did Red feature these on explore giving them mass exposure?. 2 works being removed is a start I guess but there’s still many out there. Redbubble as a whole is a great site and it’s a shame to see it slipping like this when talented artist feel they can no longer stay here. Thank you for sharing your opinion on this I for one hope things will settle down soon to every one’s satisfaction.

Great To See This Graham, Well done!!!

I have had so many emails, many from people who have left RB but still communicate with me. Long debates are something I am acquainted with. They don’t frighten me. Of course things will never revert back to what they were before. We may all be struggling presently to keep our beliefs and artistic merits alive on RB. It saddens me that so many good people have left. I hope that our expectations for obtaining a resolve are not too high. That some kind of evaluation will take place by RB and that our determination will have some impact on their overall decision, which they will initiate and adhere to. Through this long debate many wonderful artists, have been trying to come to some kind of resolve. We cannot measure the outcomes. We can’t even analyse the real reason for the support of this inappropriate material. We have all reacted on an emotive level. Which I feel is understandable as we are artists. RB needs to articulate their decision thorough a statement. I think we can no longer expect Martin on a journal page to be dealing with this massive issue. He obviously does not have the resources or the ability to change anything on his own. All these complicated factors are now spilling over into other areas i.e. social, political and economical and they are all having an effect. It is like a plague that is slowly going to affect our evolution, while we explore their development.
I conclude on reflection that we reinforce our determination to change the present situation. Contribute where we can and make ourselves clear. I stand by my beliefs and hope that the outcomes of this will be good for the majority, and not for the few who find sensationalism and profit their objective. RB has important facts to consider. We of course await their response.

We Must Vote ~ NO ~ To Hate, Contempt, Prejudice & Pain ~ Your Vote Counts

  • Thanks Sophie for sharing your thoughts on this. You can count on my support on this. We can only hope Redbubble will see sense, until then I will be voicing my concerns and the more of us who do that the better the outcome.
