Always spectular at this spot on the most northerly point of Isle of Lewis where the Atlantic Ocean and the North Sea meet. The waves that come into these weather-beaten cliffs can truly awesome.
The waves in this image are around 50 feet high and lap the top of the cliffs in places. It was truly a remarkable site that you almost see the White Horses running through the waters.

I wouldn’t exactly call myself a Photographer, I just happen to love my surroundings and share what I see. Had that unexpected side-effect of becoming passionate about B&W imagery – so much so, that I call my colour images “failed B&W’s”. Enjoy!

    This definitely has Wow factor

  • Thanks JD,

The scene in front of me at the time was certainly “Wow!”. Not sure if that was because it was sooooo cold or the force of the waves coming in! Thanks for the comment!

There are a lot of reasons for WOW in this scene, the mist from the power ov the waves, the power of the waves themselves, the apparent wind , the high contrast, the time exposure, the rocky shore! All of these combine to make a super WOW!

Breathtaking shot Kevin. B&W can be so expressive, I don’t believe too many people take the time to utilize this medium. I wish more would. Great work on all you B&W. Submit more!

  • Thanks Jim very much for your generous praise. It is really good to find others that really appreciate the B&W medium and understands what it can do.

    So, again, thansk very much

outstanding shot!! wow!! i love those waves, and this rocks in BW

  • Thanks Chris,

Still one of my favourites. The waves are immense and really don’t show the actual size of these beauties coming in.

Generous compliments as usual……keep them coming!!!!! :-)

    Awesome, what power..

  • Thanks Veronica,

Very difficult to communicate the view here on the day. The power of the waves coming in was spectacular and was even more difficult to keep myself from being blown away by the wind! Thanks for stopping by and commenting – really appreciate it!
