Glen Strathfarrar - Majestic In Silhouette

Glen Strathfarrar - Majestic In Silhouette

One of the most iconic sights that I know is the lone Scots Pine on a isolated ridge. It never ceases to amaze me how these lone trees survive considering the conditions and extremes of weather in places like these. Nature really does amaze me at times and the gems that appear in the landscape can only fill you with wonder.

This lone Scots Pine stands proud and sentinel-like over the main Strathfarrar corridor between Loch Beannacharan and loch A’Mhuillidh. It catches the eye for miles around and is certainly “Majestic”.

No longer available as an open edition.

Have just found out that this tree is locally called “Pauline’s Tree” and has a rather touching story about it. Take a look a Colin Campbell’s A Photographer’s Guide to Glen Strathfarrar# and have a wee read.

    well done my friend.

  • Kevin Skinner replied

    Hi Mohsen,

As I have said before, it is easy when the landscape is as beautiful as this. You just cannot miss! It never ceases to inspire.

Really appreciate the comments especially from a superb photog as yourself. It means alot!

If there was a big book of your photos, and I was rummaging about a book shop where it dwelt, and I had any sort f money for that sort of thing, and I ran into it, I would buy it.. and I would pick it up, from time to time, over the years, and look through it, and enjoy .. and want more.

Mind you, I would say the same thing to Frazetta about his paintings, if I had any reason to be commenting on them in his presence. So, figure that into your calculations of how much the comment is worth. lol

  • Kevin Skinner replied

    Hey Arletta,

Now that is a compliment! I didn’t know my stuff was that good or moved anyone that much!

    Thanks so much!

  • Kevin Skinner replied

    Hi Richard,

When you are in this neck of the woods (sorry about the pun!), you just cannot miss this beauty. It just stands proud over the landscape – almost regal.

Thanks for taking the time to comment and you appreciate them from you.

  • Kevin Skinner replied

    Thanks Glenn,

    Mohsen Bayramn...

    Kevin,

you should believe your photos are that good and moved so many photo lovers!

  • Kevin Skinner replied

    Mohsen,

I prefer to call it “team work” – the landscape, camera and me. All coming together to produce the final result. The landscape will make it easy – if it wants to. The camera to capture the light. Then me who points and presses the shutter button.

Have a look at this bit of writing, I think you’ll appreciate…

You must have a rally good camera

Thanks for the words of encouragement, Mohsen

and have to say, it’s really the point! a team work, what a nice name you put!
totally agreed my friend. some says the equipments are NOT really important, but for me, camera and lenses are the most important tools for us to translate Light into our Images. but you see, it’s just a tool. it needs someone who know how to creatively use that!
    I will read that article!
