Quite often I hear people say they’ve lost inspiration. Don’t know what to draw/paint/photograph.

Not so much a problem I have, although occasionally i’d like to do something a little bit…. more.

Anyhow. A while back a poet friend of mine challenged other poets to write poems based on the phonetic alphabet. You know, apha, bravo, charlie, delta, echo, foxtrot, etc.
I thought this was an interesting idea, but I don’t write. So photograph it I would!
I wanted to avoid the easy choices. I wasn’t going to photograph a hotel for hotel. The only one I managed to do is echo, but it’s always in the back of my mind now. I plan on finishing A-Z! If anyone reading this wants to try it, i’d love to see what people come up with!

Another source i’ve suggested to people is music. I’d say most of us listen to it, have a favourite band, song, lyric, etc. It’s also something else I want to do. Make a collection of lyrics which catch my ear, and take a photograph that represents it to me.

Of course, I speak as a photographer. Ideas are cross-media and these little challenges can be done by anyone doing pretty much anything creative.

It fascinates me that photographers can stand in the one spot together at the same time and come back with completely different images. Seeing what creative people come up with from one idea is even more so.
