Sydney - Here I Come
Well, work is sending me off to Sydney for a workshop and to do some museum visiting/note taking. So I’m taking the opportunity to take a little Steve time too.
I fly down on friday afternoon, check into my hotel then hopefully on friday night I’ll head out to the Panthers game at the olympic stadium.
Saturday morning I go to the state library for my workshop, then in the evening to my fa…

History Alive 2008 - Day 1
Had a big day at History Alive at Brisbane’s Fort Lytton today. It started out cold and wet, but the rain dried up, and while cloudy most of the day, was quite nice.
Something new this year was an air raid from a Japanese Zero.
(Or…
All over... for this year
Well, Relay For Life was a success, despite a last minute (friday afternoon!) venue change, taking us into a basketball stadium instead of our lovely lakeside venue due to inclement weather.
Our team managed to raise over $770, have a crapload of fun, and also take out the ‘funny money’ competition in our first (hopefully first of many) ever year.

PMA 2008
Well, my boss called me at work at 9:30 this morning and told me to get on over to the PMA exhibition at Southbank.
Registered online and off I went. Plenty on display, although I avoided the large lenses set up and the cameras out of my price range, didn’t want to make myself pine away too much!
The Eizo monitors were impressive. Don’t quite appreciate …

Countdown to Relay
Well, it’s less than a week until Relay for Life. And the weather is bloody freezing! Going to be a bit chilly out there I think.
It’s all coming together. We’ve got someone offering a 12 man tent, another guy with a portable gazebo so we should have plenty of shade from the sun and cover if it rains (fingers crossed it stays dry!) so we should be all set.
After LittleHelen....

Relay For Life!
Hi Folks.
I mentioned in a journal a little while ago I was putting together a Relay For Life team to help raise money for the Queensland Cancer Council.
I first participated in a Relay in 2006 with a few good friends, including RB member Jemina up at Nambour. It was such a moving event for me, I’ve wa…
Lest We Forget
I attended Brisbane’s ANZAC Day march on friday and took a few photos.
I remember as a kid, pretty much anyone who was a returned serviceman was an older gent or lady. It’s sad to see people younger than me now returned. I’d always hoped we’d reach a point where no living generations of Australians would have experienced war.
Another thing that struck me was the reception the Vietnam vet…

Wanna see what a hero looks like?
http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=IGAY0PDHwOw
One of the many heroes who took part in the world’s greatest shave.
She’s 18, and hadn’t had a haircut at all since she was 10 or 12 (one or the other!)
So many other videos on there with men and women, even children. It’s good to see so many people getting behind it.

Weddings and Relays
I haven’t been terribly active on the bubble of late.
A few health issues, the footy season starting up (plenty of photos there, but I probably shouldn’t be putting cheerleader photos onto RB), and work, I’ve been a bit busy.
I recently photographed the wedding of a RB member, Jemina
Although the weather was mean to us (fog, driving rain, gale…

So you want to try film?
Nowadays, a lot of people have taken photos only with digital cameras, but I’ve seen more than a few express an interest in film, wondering what the fuss is all about and why people still use it. Which then raises the question, “should I try film?”
I have to say, the answer is, “YES!”
But Uncle Stevie, the man in the camera shop told me film is dead.
Of course he did! They make mor…
