My Heart

You were drunk when I slipped my heart in to your pocket,
I should have realised you would not remember it there.
…I will not try to take it back though, in hope that one day you’ll find it.

It’s yours you know.

It seems to do well, hidden away in your pocket;
perhaps it’s the best place for a heart that’s sore,
and when the right day comes…
You’ll reach in to your pocket in search of something, and find my heart instead,
beating for you, softly, calmly, gently, as it is now.
In silence and humble of your touch. …
until then it beats softly, calmly and gently,
in silence and in patience…

my heart is yours you know.

    this is a beautiful piece, tiny, lovely and delicate. One thing, might be a typo, did you mean patience?

    Very humble and sincere work, Gretchen. Sometimes Hearts do have a mind of their own . And deep love is patient.

    wow. the first two lines are an amazing first few lines. I love the entire idea, the simple honest wording, the way the poem ends and the soft, quiet voice the poem has. Kind of like it should be half-whispered softly and gently, like the heart’s beats.
