jujubean
did he win the staring contest? lol great shot of the beautiful wood duck.
gregsmith replied
HI Jujubean.
Well, technically he did win. My shutter blinked first. It was one of those moments when you just know your subject is staring directly into the camera. One of these feelings that you will look up and find his bill resting on your lens hood. (Guess that only happens in cartoons. hmmm)
Cheers, Greg

Far Out!!! this is so spot on Greg, so focused and gorgeous colours and lighting, well done. what a beautiful duck
gregsmith replied
Hi Josie. Most generous comments. It was a fortunate capture, no doubt. Hope your summer was a good one. Ours went by much too quickly. Sigh. Guess you are heading into the warmer weather seasons in the upside down part of the world. Enjoy them!
Thanks Greg

We’ve had so much rain Greg it’s depressing, it just hasn’t stopped in weeks, and we’re expecting snow tomorrow, its so waterlogged the farmers can’t dig up their potatoes, can’t get machinery in or out of their paddocks, tomorrow is the first day of spring Ha!!!! if we get it…...
gregsmith replied
Sounds like you are describing Ottawa. It rained here every day for about five weeks, (including all of July).
Wishing you clear skies.
Cheers, Greg.

Greg, you have got this one perfect, so clear, every detail of the bird is evident. Great shot. Wayne

Hi Greg,
I’m the photographer who traded URLs with you today :
) Your photos are gorgeous! I’m sure I could learn a few things from you-for instance, how did you get that hideous pea-green muck at the corner of Mud Lake to look so nice and colorful, without oversaturating the rest of the shot to here and gone?Anyway, of the pictures I’ve seen so far, I think this Wood Duck is my favorite.
